Paul Travers grew up a long touchdown pass from Memorial Stadium, home of the Baltimore Colts. As a young boy, he idolized his helmeted heroes in blue and white, but there was one unforgettable Colt who had him spellbound.

Her name was Carolyn Clark, and she had the greatest job in football, mascot for the Baltimore Colts. Decades later, a book was born when the ghostly image of Carolyn and her pony, Dixie, raced across his mind. The rekindled memory became the chance to saddle up with Carolyn and Dixie and ride the magic carousel of dreams one more time. Paul received a B.A. from the University of Maryland and an M.A. from Pepperdine University.

He served in the United States Marine Corps and later worked with the Maryland Park Service as a park ranger/historian. In addition to writing, he lectures on American history and conducts workshops for young writers. Visit him at www.paultravers.com.
